Library of Things
From carpet cleaners, to drills, or projectors – Barking Library of Things is a place where you can borrow useful household items instead of buying things you don’t need to use very often.
Join a growing community of people sharing items and skills to save money, repair broken items and cut down on wasteful one-time purchases. You can find the kiosk inside Barking Learning Centre.
Roding Rubbish
A very active litter-picking group of residents who started out wanting to clean rubbish from the River Roding and have expanded their efforts to cover the whole of the borough, including many of our green spaces.
Greening B&D
This network is for anyone and everyone interested in making the borough a greener place. Connect with others, share ideas, find out about existing projects or set up your own!
Early Years Cocoon C.I.C.
This Community Interest Company provides a range of educational events and materials to support local families with young children in Barking & Dagenham. Free, interactive family sessions are held online, in local parks and venues providing creative activities and games which promote positive parenting by focusing on the learning and development of the child.
Citizens Alliance Network (CAN)
A place where you can have more of a say over the things that matter to you within Barking & Dagenham. If you don’t see any of the things you care about, get in touch and we’ll help you to start something.
Every One Every Day
An initiative to support local residents from all walks of life to create, design and set up their own projects in local neighbourhoods including; family events, cooking, tree planting and community meals.
Company Drinks
This community space and social enterprise based in the old bowls pavilion in Barking Park, makes drinks using fruits foraged from local green spaces and nearby countryside
River Roding Trust
The River Roding in Barking is London’s third largest river. The Trust aims to protect, restore and enhance the river for the benefit of wildlife and local people.
Greening the Fiddlers
A community led design project in Becontree Heath which aims to make the neighbourhood around the Fiddlers junction safer, greener and a more welcoming place for everyone to enjoy. This is a TfL funded Low Emission Neighbourhood (LEN) project, supported by the Mayor’s Air Quality Fund, delivered in partnership with Be First and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
