The Bardag Angling Association was first established in 1980 by forming a fishing club from workers of Barking and Dagenham council. The club fished matches in the early days until 1987 when they were granted permission to take on the lake now known as the BARDAG. The lake was originally an open gravel pit from when the local estate was built, it was barren at first with no trees, plants or fish. Through the next 40 years the lake and the Association developed into what it is now, we have a membership of 275 and a further 150 plus day ticket users. The lakes hold large stocks of specimen fish in excess of 40lbs set in idyllic and beautiful surroundings. Over the years the Club took on the Tom Thumb lake in the early 90’s and then the chase lakes in 2006.

The Club has three main aims, to promote affordable fishing to its members and others where applicable, to promote & encourage the sport of fishing to all regardless of ability and to protect and promote the angling activities of it membership. The Club is run as not for profit and any surplus funds are invested back into the lakes and park. In the last 12 years the club has invested in excess of £250,000. Our main investments have been in renovating and maintaining the swims and water quality for which the results are clear to see.

Of the three lakes on the complex, the Bardag lake is membership only, while the others are all available to fish on a day ticket.
